KS4 Hospitality and Catering

The Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering is designed to develop a range of specialist and general skills that support progression to employment in this sector. Unit 1 (theory) is taught alongside Unit 2 to enable the learners to develop their knowledge in a practical context, whilst learning how to plan, prepare, cook, present, and review a range of dishes. Unit weighting dictates that we should spend 2 lessons per fortnight on Unit 1 and 3 lessons per fortnight on Unit 2; experience suggests that this should be applied consistently throughout the whole course to optimise student outcomes.
